Panel Discussion: EU-Africa collaboration on innovation for H2 production and supply
Information
At COP27 full details of the Mediterranean Hydrogen Partnership will be announced. Designed to promote investments in renewable electricity generation, strengthening and extending electricity grids and the production of low carbon hydrogen, the partnership will facilitate the construction of storage, transport and distribution infrastructure, one of the biggest hurdles for the implementation of hydrogen as a transition fuel. With declining costs for solar PV, Africa is a region with excellent renewable resource conditions and can become a low-cost supplier of hydrogen. The panel will discuss the practicalities of implementing the Partnership, best options for collaboration across the region, distribution costs of transporting hydrogen, ensuring social improvement in Africa and fuel security in Europe.
