Industrial Decarbonisation Track: Chair Opening Remarks

A significant emphasis has been put on the Industrial Decarbonisation Strategies. Hydrogen, CCUS and other ‘breakthrough’ technologies will be instrumental to the energy transition and jobs creation, but also a vehicle to deliver on the governments promise of “levelling up” the UK. The £171 Million Industrial Decarbonisation Fund has been welcomed by local and regional governments, industrial stakeholders, and investors alike. But creating viable business models for industrial decarbonisation in every industrial cluster is the true decarbonisation challenge. The Industrial Transition Track explores how best to utilise these new funds, whether it will be enough to lead the race to a hydrogen-based economy, and why a just transition is so vital to UK green jobs and future green economy.
