ON Power operates Hellisheidi power plant, one of the largest geothermal plants worldwide with installed capacity of 300 MW of electricity and 200 MW of thermal power. The Geothermal Park is located close by, the vision for the park is to increase utilization and efficiency of geothermal resources, support innovation, and create value through the circular economy.
In the Geothermal Park we offer green electricity, heat from various sources, cold water, CO2, and vast space of land with direct power connections to our power plant. In recent years, the Geothermal Park has been more and more populated with companies with diverse and innovative ideas, there amongst direct air capture of CO2, algae industry, and e-fuel production.
CARBFIX
The Carbfix technology was initially developed at Hellisheidi geothermal poweplant. Carbfix provides a natural and permanent storage solution by turning CO2 into stone underground in less than two years.
Their mission is to become a key instrument to tackle the climate crisis by reaching one billion tons of permanently stored CO2 as rapidly as possible.
